What earns consideration
The appeal is straightforward: Piscifun positions the Carbon X around lower weight and offers several sizes. That is relevant when your current outfit feels poorly balanced or unnecessarily heavy. Our preference would be to compare the candidate on the intended rod before treating a small weight reduction as valuable.
The important distinction is between a credible reason to investigate a reel and a reason to declare it best. We have the former. We have not used the Carbon X long enough to establish the latter.

The detail we would not overlook
Piscifun states that sizes 500 and 1000 lack an anti-reverse switch. If back-reeling is part of how you fish, that is a reason to choose another configuration or another reel, not a detail to discover after spooling.
The seller's lowest weight and largest drag figure describe a range. Do not read them as one configuration. This matters more than the presentation of a sale price.
What we dislike about the purchase case
The marketing makes several performance promises that a buyer cannot validate from the specification sheet. We would rather see same-size measurements, a clear parts route and evidence about behavior under load than another superlative. That criticism concerns the evidence available, not a claim that the reel fails.
A cheap purchase is not good value if it duplicates a working reel. For occasional fishing, keep the current reel unless a fault or mismatch is making the trip worse. For frequent use, include a locally inspectable alternative even if its initial cost is higher.
What would change our view
A matched comparison would use the same line type, comparable capacity, the same rod and realistic drag settings. We would measure actual weight, line lay and drag consistency, then record problems over repeated trips. None of those tests has been completed by this publication.
Until that evidence exists, our verdict remains conditional. The Carbon X is a candidate for a specific lightweight job, not a product we can honestly call field-proven.
