Head-to-head comparison
Shortlist the Carbon X if your priority is a light freshwater setup; shortlist the Sharky III if its stated water-protection design matters more to your use. We would not choose either on maximum drag or bearing count. If their delivered prices approach a Nasci or Legalis you can inspect locally, include those before deciding.
Critical review
The Carbon X makes our research shortlist for a lightweight freshwater setup, but it is not an automatic budget winner. Buy only if the exact size solves a weight or capacity problem at a useful saving. Skip an upgrade justified only by bearing count, maximum drag or a crossed-out price.
Head-to-head comparison
Do not restrict a reel shortlist to the stores paying commission. Compare Carbon X and Sharky III with the exact Shimano Nasci and Daiwa Legalis generation available to you. Our preference is the least expensive option that fits the rod and use, with an ownership route you understand—not the biggest advertised drag.
